Theodor Hutten , also Diedrich Theodor von der Hutten (* 1535 , † 1603 in Cologne ) was a town clerk and legal expert .

Hutten was Düren town clerk from 1560 to 1587 and from 1580 secretary of the Jülich knighthood and estates. In 1587 he became a penny and accis master . The Düren aldermen and old councilors elected him mayor in 1581 . He held this office until 1585.

As a trained lawyer and notary , he was initially a clerk in the city's services and was appointed city clerk in 1567. He represented the city of Düren internally and externally and was employed by the city ​​administration for life . The reputation of Theodor Dietrich von der Hutten in the Jülich region is evident from the fact that he was appointed Secretarius of the Knighthood in 1580 . In addition, in 1587 he was given the office of tax collector , pfennig and excise master . In order to be able to compete, he had to resign from his office as city clerk in Düren.

Von der Hutten was elected mayor of Düren in 1581 by the Düren aldermen. His successor was Hermann Trostorff in 1585 and von der Hutten's predecessor was Mayor Johann Zumputz von Froitzheim.

In 1976 the grave slab of Theodor and Ida von der Hutten was transferred from the “Mösche Kämpche” cemetery to the Christ Church on Schenkelstrasse . It is hanging there next to the organ and is still visible to all visitors to the church today.

His wife was Ida von Hochkirchen. Hutten died in Cologne, but was buried in the Reformed and Lutheran cemetery on Paradiesstrasse .

The house was called "Huttensches Haus" and stood next to the house "Zum schwarzen Adler", today Oberstrasse 37 .
