Theodor Körner (politician, 1810)

Theodor Eduard Körner , also Theodor Eduard Koerner (born April 9, 1810 in Thorn ; † May 7, 1891 ibid) was a German lawyer , politician and long-time mayor of Thorn in West Prussia .

Life

Körner attended high school in Thorn and then studied law and camera studies in Berlin . After completing his studies, he was an assessor at the Higher Regional Court in Bromberg . In 1842 he was elected mayor of Thorn. In 1848, 1854 and 1866 he was re-elected and in 1854 also appointed Lord Mayor. During his tenure, among other things, the Chamber of Commerce , the gas works , a trade school , another grammar school and a secondary school for girls were established . He repeatedly represented the Thorn constituency in the Prussian House of Representatives . He was also called to the Prussian mansion to present the city authorities .

In 1872, Körner retired at his own request, which he spent on his Hofleben estate. The city of Thorn made him an honorary citizen in 1879 for his services . Körner was involved in the social life of his hometown. For many years he was chairman of the Coppernicus Association for Science and Art in Thorn, named after the astronomer .
