Theodor Joseph Martin Kaes (born November 7, 1852 in Amberg , † December 22, 1913 in Hamburg ) was a German neurologist .

Life

Theodor Kaes headed the brain anatomy laboratory at the Friedrichsberg State Hospital , the first psychiatric institution in Hamburg . Even before the foundation of the Prosektur Kaes had been dealing with brain anatomical examinations for years. In his studies he devoted himself in particular to the morphological and fiber anatomical structure of the cerebral cortex .

In the table section of his publication "The human cerebral cortex in its dimensions and fiber content - A brain anatomical atlas with explanatory text" from 1907, the results of specific brains are shown with a table and two tables with brain sections. Both the brains of children (panels 7–8, Berghausen, female, 9 months) and adults (Schmidt, female, 45 years old) were examined. And there were also criminals executed in Hamburg after 1900, such as the "angel maker of St. Pauli", Elisabeth Wiese , were investigated ("panel 41-42, Osbahr, male, 24 years old, robbery, panel 39-40, Wiese, female , 45 1/2 years, angel maker ").

After his death in 1913, Alfons Maria Jakob (1884–1931) took his place in Friedrichsberg .
