Theodor Kissel

Theodor K. Kissel (born January 25, 1962 in Dahn ) is a German ancient historian .

Theodor Kissel graduated from the Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Gymnasium Dahn in 1981 . From 1984 he studied Ancient History, Egyptology, Middle and New History at the University of Mainz . His doctorate took place in 1994 in the subject of ancient history on the subject of investigations into the logistics of the Roman army in the provinces of the Greek East (27 BC – 235 AD). From 1995 to 1996, Kissel was a research assistant in the planning office of the International Working Group on Northeast Africa Studies. From 1997 to 2005 Kissel was a research assistant at the University of Mainz. Kissel has been working as a freelance author since 2004. Kissel has been working as a research assistant at theRhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

His main research interests are Roman economic and social history, Roman infrastructure ( roads , bridges , milestones ), historical geography and reception history. As a science journalist , he also writes articles and reviews for Spektrum.de on other historical epochs.
