Theodor Mussaeus

Theodor Mussaeus , also Mussäus (born July 10, 1814 in Boizenburg / Elbe , † February 21, 1895 in Wismar ) was a German lawyer and Mecklenburg judge.

Life

Mussaeus came from a Mecklenburg academic family and was the son of the lawyer and court counselor Friedrich Gottlieb Mussaeus junior. in Boizenburg. From April 1839 he studied law at the University of Rostock and became a member of the Corps Hanseatia Rostock. He began his career in 1841 as an auditor in Boizenburg (Elbe). In 1846 he passed the Mecklenburg judge exam and initially worked in the Wredenhagen office. In 1849 he was appointed city judge and mayor in Malchow ; from there he went to Neustadt in 1851 as a civil servant and administrator . In 1863 he was transferred to Wismar. Here he became senior magistrate and senior magistrate at the Wismar district court in 1868 . In 1891 he retired.

He was the father of the theosophist and educator Marie Musaeus Higgins, who emigrated to the USA and later to Sri Lanka .
