Theodor Schmieding

Theodor Schmieding (born August 15, 1843 in Bönen , Westphalia ; † November 27, 1918 in Dortmund ) was a German lawyer who worked as a judge and member of parliament.

Life

Theodor Schmieding studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg Law . In 1864 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he pursued a career as a judge and most recently worked as a regional judge at the Dortmund regional court .

Schmieding then sat from 1884 to 1913 as a member of the National Liberal Party and member of constituency 5 in the administrative district of Arnsberg (which has changed over the decades in its layout, but to which the urban district of Dortmund always belonged) in the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1895 to 1901 he was a member of the Rules of Procedure committee. He was one of the leading figures in his group. In 1913 he was appointed a member of the Prussian mansion by the Prussian king .

Schmieding belonged to the supervisory boards of the Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG and the "Union" AG for mining, iron and steel industry and the German-Luxembourgish mining and smelting company . He was classified as a millionaire because of his stock wealth. His two daughters were married in the Ruhr mining industry: Helene with Eugen Kleine (General Director of Harpener Bergbau AG , son of Eduard Kleine ), Elisabeth with Ernst Flemming (Ministerial Director in the Prussian Ministry of Trade and Industry).
