Theodor Tannen

Theodor Johann Dietrich Tannen (born October 28, 1827 in Aurich ; † February 7, 1893 there ) was a German farmer and politician , a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

Life

Tannen came from an old Frisian family and was born the son of a procurator and studied agriculture in Jena after an agricultural apprenticeship . There he became a member of the fraternity in the castle cellar in 1847/48 . Until the demobilization in 1851 he became a volunteer hunter in the 3rd company of the II. Jägerkorps in Rendsburg and then continued his training in Leyden and with studies of flax cultivation in East Flanders . He then leased the Meerhusen domain near Aurich and farmed sheep there . In 1873 he acquired the Cöldehörn estate near Aurich. Since agriculture was not enough for him as an old man in 1848, he went into politics. In 1870 he became a member of the board of trustees of the newly founded Amtssparkasse zu Aurich and from 1870–1889 a representative of the main agricultural association in Aurich at the Royal Agricultural Society. 1878-1883 he was general secretary in its central association for the province of Hanover. From 1877 to 1892 he was a member of the National Liberals in the provincial parliament of Hanover , constituency of Aurich. From 1885 to 1892 he was a member of the Provincial Committee, the Provincial Council of the Province of Hanover and District Deputy. He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1882–1885 (constituency Hannover 1, Aurich) and 1886–1893 (constituency Aurich 2, Aurich, Wittmund). He was landscape councilor for the East Frisian landscape .
