The Theological Seminar Adelshofen is an evangelical theological seminar sponsored by the Adelshofen Community eV It offers vocational training in community education and an academic postgraduate course with two courses in cooperation with the University of South Africa (Unisa) .

history

The local pastor Otto Riecker (1896–1989) prayed when he was hired in Eppingen in 1950 for a revival through his ministry. Through an evangelism in 1955, many villagers came to the Christian faith. On January 20, 1958, he founded the "Bible School" - today: Theological Seminary Adelshofen - and began training with a few students in the rectory. The experiences of living together in a confined space inspired individual students to come together to form a binding community . They discovered: "Only when you are determined is freedom."

In 1962 the Adelshofen community was founded . At the same time, there was brisk construction activity. With the support of her circle of friends, several houses of the seminary were built on the outskirts without financial reserves and with a lot of prayer and trust in God alone.

In the first 60 years of its existence, the TSA has trained more than 850 young men and women to be youth officers, deacons , evangelists and missionaries .

education and study

  • The vocational training qualifies graduates for full-time service in congregations (congregational pedagogue, congregational deacon, evangelist, pastor, preacher, in social and diaconal tasks at home and abroad) and missions. This training consists of two degrees recognized by the state and the regional church:
  • Postgraduate studies (AAS), Bachelor in Theology (BTh Hons) and Master’s degree in Practical Theology in collaboration with the University of South Africa . Upon successful completion of the master’s degree, the University of South Africa, as a partner, awards the academic degree of Master of Theology (MTh) with a focus on practical theology, which enjoys international state recognition and also opens the doors for further academic work. The subjects of study include community building and leadership, preaching and worship, religious and community education as well as pastoral care and counseling.
  • Target group offers. Various courses of study are offered for specific target groups:
    • Part-time full course for full-time employees, the duration of the course depending on individual or family options.
    • Compact face-to-face study for full-time employees
    • Individual courses for personal development
    • PhD program

The theological seminar offers committed employees from congregation, church and mission the opportunity to take part in individual courses for personal further qualification and personal development.

The seminar is a member of the Conference of Biblical Training Centers (KBA), the European Evangelical Accreditation Association (EEAV, or in English: European Evangelical Accrediting Association, EEAA ), the Ring Missionary Youth Movements (RMJ), the Association of Evangelical Missions (AEM) and since 2020 corporate member of the working group for evangelical theology .
