Thomas Arndt

Thomas Arndt (born June 6, 1952 in Luckenwalde ) is a German teacher and ornithologist with a focus on parrot birds .

Live and act

Thomas Arndt studied at the Karlsruhe University of Education . In 1988 he founded the Arndt & Müller publishing house with the publisher Horst Müller . From 1988 to 1992 the specialist journal Parrots was published by this publisher , and from 1993 by Arndt-Verlag. Thomas Arndt has been the editor of this trade journal since 1988 . In addition, he is the founder of Arndt-Verlag and, from 1995, publisher of WP-Magazin as well as author and co-author of several books. His specialty within ornithology are the parrots of South and Central America and the woodpecker parrots. In addition to several new subspecies ( Micropsitta bruijnii buruensis , Thectocercus acuticaudatus Queen Mirror , Psittacara mitrata chlorogenys , Psittacara mitrata tucumana ) described it in 2006, the new way Aratinga hockingi and 2008 Pyrrhura parvifrons and Pyrrhura dilutissima and 2017 with Michael Wink subspecies Pyrrhura dilutissima pereneensis , Pyrrhura lucianii orosaensis and Pyrrhura amazonum araguaiaensis .

Since 2015, Arndt-Verlag has been operating under the name Arndt-Verlag eK and has changed hands. The new publisher is René Wüst . Thomas Arndt remains the editor of the magazines Parrotien and WP-Magazin.

Arndt belongs to the working group of the Fund for Endangered Parrots within the Zoological Society for Species and Population Protection .
