Thomas Bauer-Friedrich

Thomas Bauer-Friedrich (* 1976 in Dessau ) is a German art historian and curator and has been director of the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) since 2014 .

Bauer-Friedrich studied art history and German at the University of Leipzig and already worked for the Leipzig City History Museum during his studies . After completing his studies, he worked in visitor care at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and participated in an exhibition on the Bauhaus style. Afterwards he moved to London and worked a. a. for the Tom Blau Gallery and Kazzum Arts Projects . Since 2004 he has been working for the Chemnitz art collections , where he was responsible for the newly founded Gunzenhauser Museum . From 2007 to 2014 he was its curator and scientific director and in this function was responsible for exhibitions on Otto Dix , Conrad Felixmüller , Helmut Kolle , Gabriele Münter and Alexej von Jawlensky, among others . In 2014 he took over the position of director of the art museum Moritzburg Halle (Saale) , the art museum of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, and is the successor of Michael Freitag , who moved to the Lyonel-Feininger-Galerie in Quedlinburg as director .
