Thomas Becker (born July 6, 1967 in Hilden ) is a former German canoeist . In 1996 he became Olympic third in canoe slalom .

Becker won the silver medal behind the French team at the 1991 World Cup in Tacen, together with Michael Glöckle and Michael Seibert . When the canoe slalom was back on the program after twenty years at the 1992 Olympic Games , Becker was there in a single kayak , but was eliminated in qualifying as 26th. At the 1995 World Cup in Nottingham, Becker took fourth place in the individual standings and won the team standings together with Oliver Fix and Jochen Lettmann . Oliver Fix, the 1995 world champion, also won the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , and Becker won the bronze medal behind Andraž Vehovar from Slovenia . In 1997 at the World Championships in Três Coroas , Brazil , Becker won the individual title, in the team he finished third with Lettmann and Holger Häffner . In 1998 Becker won his first German championship title in single kayak, and two more should follow in 1999 and 2001. At the 1999 World Cup in La Seu d'Urgell , Spain , the German team with Becker, Ralf Schaberg and Jakobus Stenglein won the team title. Becker won his third team championship title in 2002 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice together with Claus Suchanek and Thomas Schmidt .
