criticism

For the 2014 financial year, Ebeling received remuneration of EUR 27.5 million for his work as CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 and thus more than the heads of the largest German DAX companies. This is due to a special bonus of 23.5 million euros, which was paid by the financial investors Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Permira after their successful exit from ProSiebenSat.1. The two companies appointed Ebeling to the media company's executive board in 2009.

In a conference call with analysts, Ebeling described ProSiebenSat.1 viewers as overweight and poor. In the interview, which was conducted in English, Ebeling said: “All the Hollywood blockbusters are on our channels, and not every Netflix film is a home run. And very often their content is very, very arthouse- like. There are people, a little obese and a little poor, who still like to sit on the sofa, sit back and enjoy being entertained. That is a core target group that is not changing. ”The reactions ranged from understanding to rejection. On November 19, 2017, the company announced that Ebeling was leaving on February 22, 2018.

During his time as CEO at ProSiebenSat.1, whose headquarters are in Unterföhring near Munich, Ebeling was registered in Muri near Bern, Switzerland , and spent no more than 182 days a year in Germany in order not to be taxable there.
