Thomas Freyer (* 1981 in Gera ) is a German playwright.

Life

After graduating from high school in Wolfenbüttel, Thomas Freyer took part in the Paul Maar seminar in 2001. He then did an internship in dramaturgy at the Hans-Otto-Theater , Potsdam. From 2002 to 2006 Freyer studied dramatic writing at the University of the Arts (UdK), Berlin.

His play Amoklauf mein Kinderspiel was presented in a scenic reading at the Stückemarkt as part of the Berlin Theatertreffen 2006 and won the sponsorship award. The radio play version of the piece, produced by the RBB in 2006 , was awarded the Prix ​​Europa in the same year . Also in 2006 a scholarship for playwrights from the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft in the BDI , awarded in cooperation with the Hanover Theater .

In 2007 he was awarded the Schiller Memorial Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg . In 2008, his friend Tilmann Köhler directed the world premiere of his play And in the nights we lie silently at the Hanover Theater. In 2017 Freyer was awarded a sponsorship prize for the Lessing Prize of the Free State of Saxony .
