Tilmann Koehler

Tilmann Köhler (* 1979 in Weimar ) is a German theater director .

Life

From 2001 to 2005 Köhler studied directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . Before his studies he was an actor and director at the theater factory of the Altenburg-Gera Theater . From 2005 he worked as in-house director at the German National Theater Weimar . From 2009 to 2016 Tilmann Köhler was in-house director at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and headed the drama studio. In 2007 he was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen with his production of Illness of the Young . In 2008, 200 years after it was first published, he staged Goethe's Faust I at the German National Theater in Weimar . For his production of Bertolt Brecht's Die heilige Johanna der Schlachthöfe he received the Kurt-Hübner-Director's Award 2009, the advancement award for young directors of the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring. Further works were created at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, the Schauspiel Stuttgart, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Theater Basel and the Frankfurt Opera. He also realized productions in São Paulo, Taipei, at the Moscow Art Theater, in Gwangju / Korea and at the National Theater in Bratislava.
