Thomas Gunst (born July 26, 1959 in Bad Dürkheim ) is a former German hockey player .

Thomas Gunst began his sporting career at Dürkheimer HC . In 1981 he moved to the Frankenthal gymnastics community , with whom he was three times German indoor champion from 1982 to 1984. In 1983 the team also won the outdoor championship, followed in 1984 by the European Cup . Gunst later returned to Dürkheimer HC, he is still an active hockey player.

After becoming vice world champion of the juniors in 1979, the cover player made his debut in 1980 in the German national hockey team . At the 1981/1982 World Cup , favor with the German team also came in second in the adult class. The following year, the German team finished third at the 1983 European Field Hockey Championship . In 1984 the team won the European Indoor Hockey Championship . At the 1984 Olympic Games , favor was only used in the game against the USA, the German team reached the final against Pakistan and won the silver medal. In 1986 Gunst was part of the winning team at the FIH Champions Trophy and in 1988 he won again at the European Indoor Hockey Championship . Between 1980 and 1988 Thomas Gunst played a total of 70 international matches, 24 of them indoors. Thomas Gunst also belongs to the German national team in the senior division, in 2006 he won the over 45 world championship together with his old companion Heiner Dopp .
