Thomas Henry Dale

Thomas Henry Dale (born June 12, 1846 in Daleville , Lackawanna County , Pennsylvania , †  August 21, 1912 there ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Dale attended public schools in his home country and then went to Wyoming Seminary in Kingston . During the Civil War , he joined the Union Army in 1863 . After his military service, he got into the coal mining business. He has also worked in various other economic sectors in Scranton . He founded the local chamber of commerce and was its president for several years. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . For a year he was their district chairman in Lackawanna County. In June 1896 he took part as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in St. Louis , at which William McKinley was nominated as a candidate for president.

In the 1904 congressional election , Dale was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded William Connell on March 4, 1905 . Since he was not confirmed in 1906, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Dale was President of the Anthracite Trust Co. , based in Scranton. He died on August 21, 1912 in his native Daleville and was buried in Scranton.
