Thomas yours
Thomas Ihr (born September 3, 1659 in Visby , † March 11, 1720 in Linköping ) was a Swedish theologian . He was rector of Lund University in 1698 and 1709/10 .
Working life
Thomas Ihr studied theology at the University of Copenhagen from 1677 and at Uppsala University from 1680 . In 1685 he passed his master's degree. After several years abroad, he was appointed associate professor of theology at Uppsala University in 1692. Just one year later he moved to Lund University. There he officiated as rector from 1698 and 1709–1710. From 1717 he held the post of Provost of Linköping .
His grammar for the Latin language, In nuce Roma , became particularly well known . It appeared in print in Rostock in 1680 and was reprinted numerous times throughout the 18th century.
Private life
Thomas Hers was married twice. His first marriage was with Brita Steuchia (1679-1710), the daughter of the then Bishop of Lund and later Archbishop of Sweden, Mattias Steuchius (1644-1730). Thomas Ihr was the father of the Swedish linguist Johan Ihr (1707-1780). Thomas her second wife (nee Bille) died in 1746.
