Thomas Jörg (born December 2, 1981 in Sonthofen ) is a former German ice hockey player who last played in the DEL for the Augsburg Panthers .

Career

Thomas Jörg started his playing career at the Sonthofen ERC , for which he was also active in the youth team. Initially, the attacker only played a few games in the Sonthofen first team, most of the time he spent with the junior team. From the 2000/01 season Jörg played for the then regional division ESV Kaufbeuren . With this he immediately managed in his first season for the club promotion to the third highest division, the league . In the following season, the striker scored 19 goals and 30 assists in 50 games, which made him one of the best players on the Kaufbeurer team. In addition to his personal success, Jörg and his team also made it to the 2nd Bundesliga . In the first year of the second division, the DEG Metro Stars from Düsseldorf, a first division team, noticed him as a young talent and signed Jörg for the next season.

In his first season in the DEL , Thomas Jörg only scored one goal and one assist in 50 games. Since this was due to the higher level of the DEL compared to the 2nd division and Jörg only played in the third or fourth row, the DEG Metro Stars gave him another opportunity to present himself. In the following season, the attacker finally improved his point average, so that he came on five goals and eight assists in 52 games.

In the 2005/06 season , which was extremely successful for DEG and ended with victory in the cup and runner-up, Jörg finally prevailed as a regular in Düsseldorf. This season he scored ten goals and twelve assists, which was also due to the fact that he got experienced strike partners with the veterans Chris and Peter Ferraro as well as Craig Johnson and Andy Schneider . Due to a lack of prospects, the striker moved to ERC Ingolstadt for the 2007/08 season , where he signed a two-year contract. In 2008 Jörg switched to league rivals Augsburger Panther . In the 2009/10 season he won the runner-up with the Panthers. In July 2011 Jörg decided to end his career due to an injury.
