Thomas Janovsky

Thomas Janovsky (* 1954 in Hof ) is a German lawyer and has been a public prosecutor in Bamberg since February 1, 2013 .

After graduating from high school in 1973 at the Schiller Gymnasium in Hof and a two-year service with the Federal Border Police, Janovsky studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. He did his legal traineeship in the districts of the higher regional courts in Munich and Bamberg. In 1983 he began his service in the Bavarian judiciary as a judge at the Bayreuth District Court. Uses in Bayer followed. State Ministry of Justice in Munich, at the public prosecutor's offices in Amberg, Bayreuth and Hof, as well as the district and regional court in Hof, from 1997 to 1999 as presiding judge at the regional court in Hof and from 1999 to 2002 as senior public prosecutor and head of the economic department at the public prosecutor's office in Hof.

From December 2002 to the end of January 2013 Janovsky was the Chief Public Prosecutor in Bayreuth . On June 13, 2012, the Bavarian cabinet appointed him public prosecutor general in Bamberg on February 1, 2013.

Since January 1, 2015, Janovsky has also been responsible for the Cybercrime Bavaria Central Office at the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office . This unit, newly created by the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice, is, among other things, responsible throughout Bavaria for the prosecution of outstanding cases in the field of Internet crime. In May 2015 Janovsky became chairman of the "IuK" working group of the 24 German attorneys general.

As early as October 1, 2017, under the aegis of Janovsky, the Cybercrime Bayern central office was gradually increased to around 40 employees, including 15 public prosecutors and three IT consultants. It is one of the largest public prosecutor's offices in Germany to fight cybercrime.

His handbook on economic and tax criminal law , published together with Heinz-Bernd Wabnitz and Lothar Schmitt, was described by Joachim Jahn in the Frankfurter Allgemeine as a standard work.
