Thomas Jung (born April 23, 1961 in Speyer ) is a German journalist and head of programs for the "PopUnit" SWR3 at Südwestrundfunk (SWR) .

Education and professional career

Thomas Jung studied political science and German studies from 1980 to 1986 at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg. He completed this course in August 1986 with a Magister Artium. From 1986 to 1987 he completed a bimedial traineeship at Südwestfunk (SWF) in Baden-Baden. From 1988 to March 1993 Thomas Jung was political correspondent in Bonn, from April 1993 to August 1998 he worked as a radio correspondent for the SWF and other ARD stations in France. From September 1998 to April 2003 Thomas Jung was SWR3 chief reporter in Baden-Baden, from May 2003 to 2012 program manager and deputy program chief of SWR3 , from 2006 to 2012 also authorized signatory of SWR Media Services, SWR3 Club branch.

Since January 2013, Thomas Jung has been the main department head of SWR3-PopUnit and SWR3 program manager. From January 2012 to December 2014 he was also in the “Development Laboratory for Young Formats” at SWR / EinsPlus . Since autumn 2016, he has also been responsible for the SWR's supplier editorial team for the funk online service .

Since 2009 Thomas Jung has been a lecturer in the music business department and on the supervisory board of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim for the SWR . In 1993 he was awarded the Kurt Magnus Journalist Prize.

Jung is married and has two children.
