Thomas Katsich

Thomas Katsich (born December 29, 1919 in Nebersdorf / Šuševo ; † July 14, 2004 in Eisenstadt ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). Katsich was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1965 to 1982 .

education and profession

After primary school in Nebersdorf, Katsich attended secondary school in Deutschkreutz and then graduated from business school in Eisenstadt. From 1938 he worked as an employee for the Horitschon dairy , later he was also employed in other companies, most recently in Augsburg . After the end of World War II he was active from 1945 in his parents' farm, laid in 1948, the external Matura at a Matura school in Vienna and studied subsequently law at the University of Vienna , where he 1952 Dr. jur doctorate. After his legal practice at the district court of Oberpullendorf, he became director of the agricultural health insurance fund and the social insurance institution for farmers on March 1, 1958, where he held this position until 1980.

Politics and functions

Katsich was appointed to the Burgenland state parliament by the ÖVP and was a member of it from October 19, 1965 to October 29, 1982. From 1972 to 1982 he was also the managing club chairman of the Austrian People's Party and from 1964 to 1968 a local councilor in Eisenstadt.

As a Burgenland Croat , Katsich and Ivan Müller founded the Croatian Academic Club (Hrvatski Akademski Klub) after the Second World War, which aims to promote, maintain and develop the Burgenland-Croatian language, culture and identity, especially in Austria, but also in Hungary and the Slovakia tried hard. In addition, Katsich was also involved in the Croatian Cultural Association (Hrvatsko Kulturno Društvo) and the Croatian Press Association (Hrvatsko Štamparsko Društvo).
