Thomas Kron

Thomas Kron (born January 2, 1970 in Lank-Latum ) is a German sociologist and university professor .

Kron studied sociology , political science and media studies at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf from 1992 to 1997 and at the same time worked as a student assistant at the Association of German Engineers , Department of Future Technologies . After completing his master's degree , he was a research assistant and later a research assistant at the Fernuniversität Hagen and Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. Kron received his doctorate in 2000 from the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and completed his habilitation in 2005 at the Fernuniversität Hagen, where he obtained the Venia Legendi for the subject sociology. In 2006/07 he received a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and was also a visiting scientist at the University of Oxford during this time . In 2006 he took on a substitute professorship at RWTH Aachen University ; there he has been a full professor of sociology since 2007 .

Among other things, Kron works on the fuzzy logic modeling of Niklas Luhmann's system theory . He is based on the assumption that the complexity of social systems can be represented more appropriately using fuzzy logic than using two-valued systems theory.
