Thomas Labusiak

Thomas Labusiak (born April 7, 1970 - July 22, 2017 ) was a German art historian and curator of the cathedral treasures of Halberstadt and Quedlinburg from 2010 until his death .

Life

Thomas Labusiak obtained his Magister Artium in Art History, Classical Archeology and Folklore from the University of Augsburg in 1999 . It was published in 2005 by Rainer Kahsnitz about “The Ruodprecht Group of the Ottonian Reichenau Illumination. Image sources - ornamentation - stylistic prerequisites ”. From 2004 to 2006 he was the scientific secretary of the exhibition “Canossa 1077 - Shaking the World” in Paderborn, and he also held teaching positions at the universities of Paderborn and Augsburg . From 2007 to 2010 he was the museum director of the portal on history in Bad Gandersheim and headed a research project on the Gandersheim monastery at the University of Göttingen . In 2010 he was appointed curator of the cathedral treasures of Quedlinburg and Halberstadt.

Labusiak made his home in Quedlinburg, where he and his wife lived in a listed half-timbered house, for whose exemplary restoration they received a monument protection prize. He died in July 2017 after a serious illness.
