Thomas Neumann (sociologist)
Thomas Neumann (* 1937 in Weimar ; † March 13, 2002 in Hamburg ) was a German sociologist and publicist. He studied sociology , literature and philosophy and received his doctorate summa cum laude from the University of Münster , his habilitation was funded by the German Research Foundation. Neumann's unanimous appointment to professor in 1973 was prevented by politics. From 1981 to 1984 Neumann was editor of the Deutsche Volkszeitung , then co-founder and editor of the Düsseldorf debate .
From 1975 until he left in 1984 he was a member and functionary of the German Communist Party .
