Thomas Perry
Thomas Perry (born 1947 in Tonawanda , Erie County , New York ) is an American detective writer, screenwriter and producer.
Life
Perry attended Cornell University in Ithaca , where he graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Ph.D. He obtained a PhD in English Literature from the University of Rochester in 1974 . Professionally very diverse, Perry worked in the following years as a factory worker, maintenance fitter, fisherman, weapons mechanic, teacher and for television as a screenwriter and producer.
In 1982 he achieved great success as an author with The Butcher's Boy (German accounting in Las Vegas) , recognized in the following year by the Mystery Writers of America with the Edgar Award for the best first work. Further awards followed and many of his works are available in German translation. Thomas Perry now lives in Southern California with his wife and two daughters .
