Thomas Reinmann (born April 9, 1983 ) is a former Swiss football player who was last under contract with FC Thun from 2009 until the end of his career in 2017 .
Career
Thomas Reinmann made his first appearance in a professional team with BSC Young Boys on August 21, 1999 in a game against FC Thun. The Bernese played this season in the National League B , today's Challenge League . The then 16-year-old national junior player played mostly for the YB U21 at the time and was called up for the first team due to injury-related failures. Three years later, the defender moved to FC Baden in the Challenge League, where he became a regular player and played a total of 75 games from 2003 to 2006. His next professional position was FC Vaduz , with whom he was promoted to the Axpo Super League in the 2007/08 season . A year later the Liechtensteiners were relegated as the bottom of the ASL table , but won the Liechtenstein Cup for the 37th time this season (for Reinmann it was the third cup win). He played a total of seven Europa League play-off games with FC Vaduz . Reinmann made his UEFA Cup debut on July 13, 2006, when he played a qualifying match with FC Vaduz against the Hungarian club Újpest FC .
In July 2009 Thomas Reinmann moved to FC Thun . The defender signed a two-year contract until 2011 with the Thuners, who were then playing in the second highest Swiss league. In the 2009/10 season Thomas Reinmann played 21 games and scored one goal. Not least thanks to him, FC Thun won the Challenge League this season and was promoted to the Axpo Super League . Shortly afterwards, FC Thun announced that the contract with Thomas Reinmann had been prematurely extended by two years to June 30, 2013.
The experienced defensive all-rounder was also used regularly in the 2010/11 season until an old injury made itself felt again. Reinmann then had to undergo a foot operation and was out until the beginning of the second half of the season. On March 6, 2011, he came back to a partial use for the first time when he was substituted on in the game against Lucerne in the 70th minute.
National team
In his youth, Thomas Reinmann initially trained at FC Aarwangen and FC Herzogenbuchsee. Because of his performances there, he was called up 22 times for the Swiss U16 junior national team between 1998 and 2000. He made his debut against France on October 13, 1998, and in October 1999 played a qualifying tournament in Ireland for the 2000 European Under-16 Football Championship . The defender scored his only goal for the U-16 junior national team on December 31, 1999 in an international match against Turkey. On May 25, 2000 he ran against Norway for the last time for the U-16s. Thomas Reinmann played at least three games for the Swiss U-17 junior national team, namely at a tournament in Esbjerg ( Denmark ) on July 12th and 15th, 1999. Since some lists of matches from this tournament are missing, no further appearances can be recorded .
On transfermarkt.ch it is stated that Thomas Reinmann is said to have played for other junior national teams (up to the U-20s). Corresponding evidence (team line-ups) is missing, however.
