Thomas Rentsch

Thomas Rentsch (born August 29, 1954 in Duisburg ) is a German philosopher .

Rentsch passed his Abitur at the Steinbart-Gymnasium in Duisburg, and then studied philosophy , literature and Protestant theology at the universities of Konstanz , Münster , Zurich and Tübingen .

1982 doctorate Rentsch with a thesis on Martin Heidegger and Ludwig Wittgenstein . In 1988 he completed his habilitation with a study on the constitution of morality and in the same year took over the co-editor of the historical dictionary of philosophy .

Since his appointment to the founding professorship for philosophy with a focus on practical philosophy and ethics in 1992, Rentsch has been teaching at the Technical University of Dresden . In addition to research in these areas, he wrote numerous papers on the philosophy of religion , philosophical anthropology , philosophy of language and the history of metaphysics .
