Thomas Sabottka (* 1968 in Berlin ) is a German author .

Life

Sabottka was born in East Berlin in 1968 . From 1987 to 1990 he wrote his first short stories, held readings and performed his first own play as an author, actor and co-director. Further theater work followed. From 1992 to 1995 he worked as an actor at Berlin off-theaters, where he played a. a. the Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare and Alfred Ill in The Visit of the Old Lady by Friedrich Dürrenmatt . In 1997 Sabottka played in the program “ Cigarettes” or “Solidarity” based on texts by Max Goldt , together with an opera singer / actress and a pianist in the Berliner Brotfabrik (the production received the recommendation Raisin of the Day in the city magazine Zitty ). In 1997 he traveled to Andalusia for half a year to live and work on a horse farm.

In 2001 Sabottka moved to Düsseldorf and took part in other readings a. a. with Oliver Martin Ligneth-Dahm. The maxi-CD Kains Lied took 5th place in the Kains Children's Contest by Martin Sprissler and the music magazine Zillo . In 2003 Sabottka was on stage in the opening program for the release party of Ghoststories and Fairytales by the German-Austrian music group Chamber in the Frankfurt Sinkkasten . In 2005 he moved to Frankfurt a. M. around. Further readings at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen , the Burgnächten Rosslau, together with Martin Grossmann, Christian von Aster u. a., followed. In 2005 Sabottka switched to Edition PaperONE . In the spring of 2006 Sabottka created the opening program for the Once In A Lifetime tour of the bands ASP and Chamber with a reading . In autumn 2006 Thomas Sabottka hosted the live premieres of his novel Tremendista at two theaters in Frankfurt , in which he was accompanied on stage by a complete flamenco ensemble. Since then, Sabottka has been on a live reading tour in Germany and Switzerland. In addition, his rock'n'roll stories have been part of a weekly radio broadcast on the internet radio UR-Radio.de since 2010 .

In 2013, Sabottka retired from being a writer and stage artist for health reasons.

Publications

  • Play was published as a debut novel in 1999 and self-published in 2000.
  • In 2002 Sabottka Pinocchio wrote an erotic story as a commissioned work for www.erozuna.de .
  • In 2003, Playback , his second novel by UBooks , came out.
  • In 2004 Kain's Lied (a maxi CD) and Das Buch Kain , a CD for a kind of sound story with the soundtrack composer Gereon Hillebrand, were released under the name "La deuxième Création".
  • In 2004 the Träumer short story collection and two poems for the volume of poetry Makulatur were published by UBooks-Verlag .
  • In 2005, Hässlich appeared from the Frankfurt rock band ASP in the interpretation of Thomas Sabottka, and took second place in the contest of the same name (appears in 2006 on the CD of the same name).
  • In 2006, Rewind appeared as a revised new edition of Playback. In the same year the new novel Tremendista was published and the debut Play was republished, making the trilogy finally available in full. All books were published by EditionPaperONE, the cover artwork was done by the Frankfurt illustrator Ingo Römling (Monozelle).
  • In 2007, Backstage was a collection of short stories, finger exercises, diary entries, the Once in a lifetime tour chronicle and the like.
