Thomas Sanders Dupuis
Thomas Sanders Dupuis (* 5th November July / 16 November 1733 greg. In London ; † 17 July 1796 ibid) was an English composer and organist of French descent.
Life
Dupuis comes from a Huguenot family . He was the choirboy of the Chapel Royal under Bernard Gates . He later became a member of the Royal Society of Musicians .
In 1773 Dupuis was the organist of the Charlotte Street Chapel not far from Buckingham Palace . On March 24, 1779 he was elected organist of the Chapel Royal to succeed William Boyce and was considered one of the best organists of his time.
Dupuis died on July 17, 1796 and was buried in Westminster Abbey on July 24 .
A three volume collection of his music was edited posthumously by his student John Spencer.
