Thomas Schimanski

Thomas Schimanski (* 1980 in Oberhausen ) is a German actor .

Life

Schimanski grew up in his hometown Oberhausen. He completed his acting training from 2004 to 2008 at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna .

During his training he played at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf (2004–2006), worked in productions under the direction of Klaus Maria Brandauer and from 2006 played regularly at the Vienna Volkstheater , to which he belonged until 2010 after completing his training. There he stepped u. a. as pastor in The Visit of the Old Lady (2006–2007, directed by Alexander Kubelka ), as Erich in Tales from the Vienna Woods (2007–2008, directed by Georg Schmiedleitner ), as Staff Captain Wassilij Wassiljewitsch Soljony in Three Sisters (2008–2009, Director: Thomas Schulte-Michels ) and as Howard Wagner in Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman (2009-2010, Director: Dieter Berner ). In 2010 he was awarded the Karl Skraup Prize in the “Best Young Actor” category.

From 2010 to 2014 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Kassel . Here he played u. a. the following leading roles: Hauptmann in Woyzeck (2010–2013, director: Markus Dietz ), Stelzfuss in The Black Rider (2011–2013, director: Patrick Schlösser ), the title role in Christopher Marlowe's tragedy Edward II. (2012–2013, director: Patrick Schlösser), the title roles in Dantons Tod (2012–2014, directed by Gustav Rueb ) and Anatol (2013–2014, directed by Marco Stormann ) as well as Banquo in Macbeth (2014, directed by Markus Dietz).

From 2014 to 2018 he was part of the Schauspiel Essen , where he worked with directors such as Reinhardt Friese , Volker Lösch , Martin Schulze, Gustav Rueb and Anna Bergmann .

Occasionally, Schimanski also appears in front of the camera. He made short films and had roles in various television series such as Dengler , Marie Brand and Marie catches fire .

He lives in Berlin .
