Thomas Schuster

Thomas Schuster (* 1966 ) is a German university professor and professor of economics at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim .

Life

Thomas Schuster studied economics at the University of Mannheim and at Portsmouth Polytechnic (Great Britain). He then worked as an assistant at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research and at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Mannheim. As part of his doctoral thesis , he conducted a Europe-wide survey on social policy. He applied microeconometric methods and was the first scientist to estimate the demand for social policy in the countries of the European Union .

After completing his doctorate , Schuster worked as an equity analyst in the research department of BBBank and made recommendations for European and US stocks.

Then Schuster was a substitute professor at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences . During this time he taught statistics , economics and finance . He lectured at universities of applied sciences and vocational academies in Germany, including the universities of applied sciences in Berlin (HTW) , Pforzheim and Deggendorf . From 2009 to 2014 he was Professor of Quantitative Methods and Economics at the International University of Bad Honnef • Bonn . Schuster also gave guest lectures at the Metropolia and Haaga-Helia Universities of Applied Sciences in Helsinki and was a visiting researcher at the Cologne Institute for Economic Research . In 2013 Schuster was visiting professor for one semester at Ningbo University ( China ).

In 2014 Schuster received the Science Prize of the Cologne Institute for Economic Research for the best internal publication in 2013.

Schuster appears regularly as an economics and finance expert on television programs and gives radio interviews.

Schuster researches primarily in the areas of labor market and social policy . He is also an expert in economic policy , researches the European Monetary Union and makes suggestions for overcoming the euro crisis . He regularly evaluates international surveys on economic and social policy issues.

Schuster has been a member of the Catholic student union KDSt.V. since 1988. Churpfalz Mannheim in the CV of Mannheim. In 1991 he was the deputy federal chairman of the CV student union. From 2006 to 2010 he was Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SIRE AG, Zittau.
