Thomas Stein (born February 12, 1959 in Rochlitz , GDR ) is a German songwriter and author .

Life

Thomas Ralf Stein grew up in Rochlitz from 1959 to 1973 . He received his first piano lessons at the age of 7. After attending ten-year high school, he completed vocational training with a high school diploma at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock . During his apprenticeship he began to play guitar and was a member of the singing group of the Neptunwerft. During his military service in the NVA in the former GDR , he wrote his first poems and lyrics. Then in 1981 he took up studies at the Engineering College for Shipping Warnemünde / Wustrow specializing in manufacturing process design. Since 1984 he has appeared in concerts as a songwriter. Initially with poetry set to music, later increasingly and now almost exclusively with own texts. After completing his studies, he worked at VEB Elektromat Dresden from 1986 to 1990 . During this time he took guitar and speech training. In 1989 he took part in the Chansontage in Frankfurt / Oder. From 1987 to 1989 it ran the Talentecafe Dresden Nord. In 1991 he moved with his family to Tangermünde (Saxony-Anhalt). Since 2004 he has been a member of the Altmark Authors' Club, which he headed from 2009 to 2011. Since October 2005 he has been accompanied on guitar by Edgar Kraul at his concerts.

In 2010 he was accepted into the Association of Writers in Saxony-Anhalt. He has been a member of the Friedrich Bödecker Circle since 2016 .

Thomas Stein is married and has two children. He lives and works in Tangermünde ( Saxony-Anhalt ).
