Thomas Tittel

Thomas Tittel (born October 27, 1975 in Brück , GDR ; † September 7, 2013 in Bad Ischl , Austria ) was a German triathlete . His greatest success was the vice-European title in 2009 in Prague.

Tittel operated a bike center in Leipzig . For the SC DHfK Leipzig he took part in various national and international marathon and Ironman competitions. In 2009 he was ITU Vice European Champion in the long distance and second in the German championship in the cross-triathlon. In 2010, during the Ironman in Frankfurt am Main, he had health problems in the form of an asthma attack with an allergic reaction and a sudden hearing loss.

On the first day of the 2013 European Championships in the Crosstriathlon at Wolfgangsee in Austria, Tittel collapsed unconscious on the running track: After he came to, he was taken to the hospital in Bad Ischl, where he died shortly after of a heart attack as a result of overexertion. The urn Tittel was buried on October 2, 2013 in the cemetery in Leipzig-Lindenau .
