Thomas Vogel (journalist)

Thomas Vogel (born October 6, 1959 in Zofingen ) is a Swiss journalist .

Life

Vogel studied German , political science and journalism at the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin . Vogel was the first foreigner to write a master's thesis on the “national question in GDR literature” at a West Berlin university and at a GDR university.

Vogel then worked as a political, economic and social editor for the Luzerner Tagblatt and the SonntagsBlick, among others . He has been with Swiss television since 1998, first with the consumer magazine Kassensturz, then as a Germany correspondent. From 2009 he was editor of the news show 10 to 10 , since 2012 he has been a reporter for the political magazine Rundschau .

Vogel is the author of a large number of television programs on Swiss, German and international politics. The former Eastern Bloc is a focus of his journalistic work . Together with Thomas Kunze , he analyzes the political, social and economic developments of all former sub-republics of the Soviet Union in the book From the Soviet Union to Independence (2011) as well as the political cult of personality in the 20th and 21st centuries.
