Thomas Vogel (born June 28, 1965 in Weimar ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In 1991, after German reunification, Thomas Vogel came to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in southwest Germany . Before that, he had played 62 times in the GDR Oberliga for Rot-Weiß Erfurt (nine goals). At first FCK, the German champions of the previous year , he played in two seasons each with 18 times with three Torerfolgen. In 1991 he also won the DFB Supercup with the Red Devils . In 1993/94 he played at Tennis Borussia Berlin in the 2nd Bundesliga and was able to show the record of 18 league games with three goals for the third season in a row. After TeBe relegated bottom of the table, he moved to the regional division FC Carl Zeiss Jena . With his new club he rose to the second division at the end of the season, where he made a significant contribution with eleven goals. In 1995/96 Jena was sixth in the table as a newcomer, Vogel did not recover from a serious knee injury and finally had to end his career at the end of the season.

Vogel then worked as an assistant coach at Carl Zeiss Jena until 2000 and was the team's interim coach for a short time in 1999, 2002 and 2004.
