Thomas Wortmann (* 1983 ) is a German literary scholar .

Life

From 2003 to 2008 he studied German , theater, film and television studies and political science in Bonn , St. Louis and Cologne , supported by a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . From 2005 to 2006 he was Research Assistant with Paul Michael Lützeler at Washington University . After completing his Magister Artium in June 2008 at the University of Cologne , he worked from 2008 to 2009 as a research assistant at the Institute for Theater, Film and Television Studies at the University of Cologne at the chair of Lutz Ellrich . From 2008 to 2012 he worked on his dissertation at the Institute for German Language and Literature I at the University of Cologne with Claudia Liebrand zu Annette von Droste-Hülshoff , funded by a doctoral scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. From 2009 to 2012 he worked at Claudia Liebrand's chair at the Institute for German Language and Literature I at the University of Cologne. From 2009 to 2013 he was a lecturer for modern German literature at the Institute for German Language and Literature I at the University of Cologne. After the disputation and completion of the doctoral procedure on December 12, 2012, he was a research assistant at the Dean's Office of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Cologne from 2012 to 2013. Project office for the coordination of the re-accreditation of the Bachelor and Master programs at the Philosophical Faculty. In 2013 he was W1 junior lecturer for modern German literary studies at the German Department of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . In 2013 he accepted a call to a W1 junior professorship for modern German literature at the Department of German Philology at the University of Mannheim . Since 2018 he has held the Chair for Modern German Studies II.
