The Thompson Spur is a large and rugged mountain ridge in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Usarp Mountains , it extends from Daniels Range in an easterly direction between the Swanson and Edwards glaciers .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after David H. Thompson, biologist of the United States Antarctic Research Program on the Hallett- Station from 1965 to 1966 and from 1967 to 1968.
