Most of the exhibits consist of furniture from Thonet production. From the first bentwood models to postmodern furniture, models from various periods are shown. For example from the Bauhaus environment by designers such as Mart Stam , Marcel Breuer , Le Corbusier or Mies van der Rohe .

On the second floor there are also designs by Adolf Loos , Josef Hoffmann , Otto Wagner , Hadi Teherani , Norman Foster and Stefan Diez . The museum houses world-famous exhibits, such as model no.14 or the coffee house chair no.214.

history

Initially, the company's own collection consisted of only a few exhibits. Gradually there were exhibits from Frankenberg and, thanks to great-grandson Georg Thonet , from all over the world. In 1989 the Thonet Museum was opened to mark the 100th anniversary of the company's headquarters in Frankenberg.
