Thorsten Bartzok

Thorsten Bartzok (born February 10, 1987 in Essen ) is a competitive athlete and 2019 Germany Cup winner in the Quadrathlon . He is the unofficial world record holder for the fastest journey down the Rhine in a muscle-powered boat.

Life

Thorsten Bartzok graduated from high school in Essen in 2006 . After doing community service at the Franz Sales School, he began studying spatial planning at TU Dortmund University in 2007 . After three semesters, he moved to the winter semester 2008/2009 the University of Bochum and began studying sports science and geography on teaching . During his studies, he founded Companytrip in 2008. After completing the M.Ed. in the subjects of sports science, geography and education in 2015, he successfully led the company until 2019. In August 2019, Bartzok founded a company that offers mental training for athletes, training plans for endurance athletes, sports coaching and performance diagnostics.

In canoe slalom Bartzok was active until the year of 2006. Here he and his two-man Canadian partner Niklas Hilmes achieved 4th place at the German Junior Championships in 2005 .

In 2017, Bartzok drove the 1,161 km stretch from Chur to Hoek of Holland in a canoe in 6 days, 11 hours and 34 minutes , making him the unofficial world record holder.

In 2019, Bartzok won the Germany Cup in the Quadrathlon, which was held in nine competitions from May to August. The competition on June 2nd in Hanover also counted as the German championship in the middle distance over 1.9 km swimming, 20 km cycling, 5 km kayaking and 4.2 km running, here Bartzok came second. The day before he won the Germany Cup race over the short distance of 0.75 km swimming, 20 km cycling, 10 km kayaking and 10 km races. In addition, Bartzok is also a member of the German national team in the quadrathlon. Bartzok has been a member of the Cube Co Pilot Team since September 2019.
