Thorsten Salzer (born March 3, 1986 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German handball player . His body length is 1.92 m. Salzer is mostly used in the middle back position.

Thorsten Salzer started with the CVJM Möglingen and at the same time with TSV Asperg with the handball game. Via VfL Waiblingen he came to the neighboring SG Bietigheim-Metterzimmer , where he made his debut in the first men's team and in 2006 was promoted to the 2nd handball Bundesliga . After he had managed to stay up with the Bietigheimers, he moved to TSG Friesenheim in 2007 . However, he did not renew his one-year contract with the "Owls"; in summer 2008 Salzer moved on to Eintracht Hildesheim . After one season Salzer moved to SC Magdeburg II , which plays in the 2nd Bundesliga. In January 2011 he then moved to the 2nd Bundesliga South for TV Bittenfeld . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he moved to SG Bietigheim-Metterzimmer for the second time. In the 2013/14 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with SG BBM. He has been under contract with TSV Weinsberg since summer 2014.

Thorsten Salzer has played over 50 youth and junior international matches so far. In 2006 he became Junior European Champion.

Salzer's older brother Timo also plays for SG Bietigheim-Metterzimmer.
