Thorsten Schick (born September 2, 1971 in Iserlohn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and journalist. From 2005 to 2010 and again since 2012 he has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Schick has been working as a freelance journalist for various media agencies and radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1992 , including Radio MK . In addition to his work, he studied business administration . Between 2010 and 2012 he worked as a teacher at a secondary school.

politics

Since 1990 in local politics actively, belongs Schick, who is a member of the CDU in 1987 since the year 1994 the City Council of the city of Iserlohn and became the first deputy elected mayor of the city in 2009. In addition, he was a member of the district council of the Märkischer Kreis from 2004 to 2009 . In 2005 he moved into the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as a directly elected member . He won his constituency Märkischer Kreis I against the previous SPD member Michael Scheffler with a share of the vote of 46.0 percent. In his role as media policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Schick was also elected to the North Rhine-Westphalia Media Commission during this legislative period. In the state elections in 2010 , however, he only achieved 39.0 percent and thus lost his direct mandate to Scheffler. In the early elections in 2012 there was a third time this duel. Schick achieved his worst first vote result to date with 33.9 percent. Nevertheless, he managed to re-enter the state parliament over 8th place on the list. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , he was able to win back the direct mandate with 39.4% of the first votes from Scheffler,
