Music genre

For Ken Pierce of Sea of Tranquility , the majority of the album was described as heavier, more talented by Mayhem , while Invasion was very reminiscent of Celtic Frost and songs like Raise the Symbols of Satan of Behemoth . Dusted Magazine's Stewart Voegtlin also compared the style to Mayhem. Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic, however, named Darkthrone and Tsjuder as comparisons. Some tracks contain the occasional thrash metal element. Drew Ailes of Last Rites occasionally reminded the medium-tempo passages of earlier works by Burzum and Khold .

Reviews

Pierce counts Through Thick Fog Till Death among the best releases in Norwegian Black Metal; the band shows a level of musical discipline that is atypical for this style; she is not on the level of Morbid Angel , but "after all, it's not Gorgoroth ". Ailes recommends the album to fans of older Satyricon or Darkthrone works. Almost all pieces have interesting characteristics. Because of the few unorthodox elements, he is curious how the band will develop; their next release could be revolutionary. For Rivadavia the content of the album is “mostly not surprising”, the song titles are predictable, but the songs are impressively composed; the title track, Død, død og atter død and Invasion belonged to the best "Necro-Black Metal". Voegtlin described comparisons with Mayhem as "inevitable - if not somewhat unfair", since Mayhem had not given a worthy publication after the masterpiece De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas , but this may change with Attila Csihar's return to the band; while the band Urgehal has not slacked off, but at best has become more potent. The album induces a claustrophobia that has not been demonstrated since Zyklon-B or the madness of Polygon Windows Quoth .
