The Saarbrücken District Court is a German court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of ten district courts in the district of the Saarbrücken Regional Court . The president of the local court is Stefan Geib.

The court has its seat in the state capital Saarbrücken .

The judicial district includes the communities Friedrichsthal , Kleinblittersdorf , Qui Various , Riegelsberg , Saarbrücken and Sulzbach . The district is about 255  km 2 in size. Around 246,000 people live in it (as of September 30, 2017).

The Saarbrücken District Court maintains, among other things, the trade , cooperative , shipping and partnership register nationwide . It is also nationally responsible for bankruptcy proceedings . After the centralization of the land registry offices, the court is responsible for keeping all land registers for the properties located in Saarland. Since January 1, 2013, it has also been the central enforcement court for the Saarland.

The jurisdiction of the Saarbrücken District Court as an agricultural court also extends to the district of the Völklingen District Court .

For dunning is Amtsgericht Mayen responsible.

history

In 1798 the Saarbrücken Peace Court was established under French administration. This was the forerunner of the district court, which was established on October 1, 1879 by the Prussian ordinance on the establishment of the district courts of July 26, 1878. From 1911 to 1914 a new building for the civil departments was built under the direction of Gustav Kassbaum in today's Franz-Josef-Röder-Straße .

The main building is located at Franz-Josef-Röder-Straße 13 in Saarbrücken. Furthermore, five branches have been set up in Saarbrücken and one in Sulzbach.

Superior courts

The Saarbrücken Regional Court is superordinate to the Saarbrücken District Court. The competent higher regional court is the Saarland Higher Regional Court , also based in Saarbrücken.
