The District Court of Völklingen is a German court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of ten district courts in the district of the Saarbrücken Regional Court .

Seat and District of the Court

The court has its seat in the city of Völklingen in Saarland .

In addition to the Mittelstadt Völklingen, the judicial district includes the city of Püttlingen with the districts of Püttlingen and Köllerbach and the communities of Großrosseln and Heusweiler . This means that the district is around 156  km 2 in size. Around 84,000 people live in it (as of September 30, 2017).

history

The Prussian peace court Völklingen , a forerunner of today's district court, was re-established in 1868. With the entry into force of the German Courts Constitution Act , the nationwide uniform court structure was implemented and the Völklingen Peace Court was converted into the Völklingen District Court.

Courthouse

The courthouse is located at Karl-Janssen-Straße 35 in Völklingen. The seat of the court has been here since 1893. In 1993 the building was completely renovated. Again and again there were conversions and additions, but the historic appearance of the house has been preserved to this day.

Superior courts

The Saarbrücken Regional Court is superordinate to the Völklingen District Court. The competent higher regional court is the Saarland Higher Regional Court , also based in Saarbrücken.
