Thumana ( Albanian also Thumanë ) is a village in northern Albania in the municipality of Kruja , Qark Durrës , on the edge of the coastal plain between Fushë-Kruja and Mamurras .

Until 2015, Thumana was the capital of an independent community called Kodër-Thumana (Thumana Hill) . This municipality also included the villages of Borizan , Bushnesh , Derven , Dukagjin i Ri , Gramëza , Kodër-Thumana , Miliska and Sukth-Vendas . In 2011 the whole municipality had 12,335 inhabitants. It was one of the few rural-type municipalities ( komuna ) in Albania with more than 10,000 inhabitants.

The cement works above Thumana

The national road SH1 and the railway line of Hekurudha Shqiptare , which connect northern Albania with Tirana , run west of the village . The hill country that climbs up to the Skanderbeg Mountains begins east of the village . Antea Cement , a subsidiary of the Greek Titan Group , operates a large limestone quarry and an important cement works in the hills near Boka e Kuqë .

Thumana was one of the places hardest hit by the November 26, 2019 earthquake . At least three residential buildings collapsed, causing at least 24 people to lose their lives in the village.
