description

Thymus bracteatus is a small shrub with long, slender, upturned to prostrate, non-flower-bearing stems , from which about 12 cm long, upright to ascending, flower-bearing and hairy stems and axillary tufts of deciduous leaves extend. These are 8 to 12 mm long and (rarely only 1.2) 1.5 to 2 mm wide. They are herbaceous, pale green, hairless, ciliate at the base and usually petiolate.

The inflorescences are head-shaped to somewhat elongated, with the lowest false whorl standing a little away. The bracts are 2.5 to 4 mm wide, resemble the foliage leaves, are elliptical to narrowly ovate, mostly protruding beyond the sham whorls, pale green and ciliate. The calyx is 4.5 to 6 mm long, the calyx-tube is bell-shaped to almost cylindrical and hairy and significantly shorter than the lips. The upper teeth are about 1.2 to 1.8 cm long, narrowly lanceolate and ciliate. The crown is 7 to 8 mm long and whitish in color.
