Tijjani Muhammad Bande (born December 7, 1957 ) is a Nigerian political scientist and diplomat who has been Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations since 2017 . In September 2019, he took up the post of President of the General Assembly of the United Nations .

Life

After attending school, Bande began studying political science at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria , which he completed with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Political Science). He then completed a postgraduate degree in political science at Boston University with a Master of Arts (MA Political Science). He then earned a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D. ) in Political Science from the University of Toronto .

2000 gang General was of the Moroccan Tangier -based African Training and Research Center for Development Administration and has held this post until 2004. Then served it between 2004 and 2009 as the Vice Chancellor of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto and received due to its local merit 2005, the Officer's Cross of the Order of Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was then Director General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru from 2010 to 2016 .

In 2017 Ayebare was appointed Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations and handed over his letter of accreditation to UN Secretary General António Guterres on May 3, 2017 .

Gang is married and has four children.
