Till Verclas (born June 28, 1953 in Düsseldorf ) is a German copper printer and artist.

life and work

He grew up in Hamburg , learned copper printing from Hermann Kätelhön in Westphalia, before studying painting with Kai Sudeck from 1976 to 1982 at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . While still a student, he founded his own copper printer in 1979, which he ran until it was handed over to his employees in 2010.

In the copper printing shop, which he ran alongside his own artistic work, he worked (from 1985 to 1991 together with Henning Bergmann) for artists such as Georg Baselitz , Jörg Immendorff , Günther Förg , Albert Oehlen , Rosemarie Trockel , Cy Twombly , Christo , Joseph Kosuth , Dan Flavin and many others.

In 2010 he handed over the printing company to his long-term employees Lars Dahms and Daniel Vogler. Since 2000 he has been in charge of all of Thomas Schütte's etchings (approx. 600 motifs), with whom he is the only one to develop further projects to this day.

At the same time he created a number of steel, wood and bronze sculptures and in 1991 founded his press UN ANNO UN LIBRO Till Verclas , in which an artist book is created every year with his work.

In 2014, the "Kunsthalle Wedel" was created, a new 300 m² studio with a showroom in Wedel near Hamburg.
