history

Tim Freitag was founded in 2011 by Janick Pfenninger (* 1986), Lorenzo Demenga (* 1983), Severin Graf (* 1982) and Nicolas Rüttimann (* 1984) in Zurich . The band name goes back to the obituary notice of Tim Freitag, which frontman Pfenninger accidentally discovered in a daily newspaper. In 2012 the band released their first single Another Heart Has Lost Its Place on Spotify with the B-side Baby I'll Go .

Until 2013 Tim Freitag was mainly known in the Zurich indie scene. From 2013 to 2017 the band took a break, because singer Janick Pfenninger completed various stays abroad, including in New York , which was made possible by a grant from the city of Zurich .

In 2017, the band ventured a new start with Daniel Gisler (* 1981) as an additional member. The single Bruises , released in October 2017, brought Tim Freitag to airplay abroad for the first time. Since then, the band has played over 100 concerts, including at major events such as Moon & Stars in Locarno or in locations such as the Rote Fabrik or the Kaufleuten. The single Hold On released in March 2018 has brought Tim Freitag over 1,000,000 plays to date.

On March 13th, 2020, Tim Freitag released their first album entitled Monsters Forever . Due to the official measures related to the corona virus, the record baptism planned in the Kaufleuten had to be canceled. Instead, it was performed live in the studio of Radio SRF3, which was a novelty in Switzerland to date. In March 2020, Tim Freitag was voted "SRF 3 Best Talent".

Tim Freitag are known for their elaborately created music videos. Among other things, the music video for Tip Toe was nominated for six international film festivals, including the London Independent Film Awards 2019 and the Brisbane Backyard Film Festival 2019. Tim Freitag has prominent fans who speak out for the band in public, such as B. Boris Blank from Yello or the politician Chantal Galladé .
