Tim Gernitz is a German musician , producer, conférencier and stage coach. He gained fame as the singer and front man of the band Die NotenDealer .

Life

Tim Gernitz comes from a musical family. His grandfather, Günter Hertel (1917–1980), founded the Collegium Musicum of the Bergakademie Freiberg in 1948 and headed this orchestra as conductor , organizer and spiritus rector until his untimely death .

His father, Peter Hertel, has been a freelance science journalist since 1978. Gernitz accompanied him on trips at a young age and grew up alone with his father from the age of seven.

From 1998 to 2000 he was on stage for the first time in the role of the quay at the Central Saxon Theater in the children's play The Snow Queen . From 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the theater youth club of the house. At the same time he was able to develop his musical skills, for example he took guitar lessons from Beate Faber and Michael Plättner at the Freiberg Folk Music School . From 2004 to 2007 he studied singing , acting and jazz dance at the Schwarze stage school in Nossen under the direction of lecturers from the Carl-Maria-von-Weber University of Music ( Dresden ) . During this time he also received piano lessons from Lukas Malik.

In 2004 Gernitz was one of the founding members of the band Die NotenDealer . Two years later, in addition to the role as one of the four singers (alongside Lars Kessler, Felix Günther and Paul Fröbel), he also took on the management of the band. On the day of Saxony 2012 the band u. a. with her song Herz aus Silber the official musical representative.

In April 2008 he was awarded a scholarship from the Community Foundation of the Central Saxon Theater to promote young artists. With musicians from the Central Saxon Philharmonic Orchestra, the guitar duo Pi mal Thumbs (with Felix Günther) formed the pop-rock band Taxi ans Meer in October 2007 .

From February 2009 to May 2010 he worked as an assistant director for the music theater at the Landesbühnen Sachsen and took over the associated evening performance of Georg Friedrich Handel's Acis and Galatea and Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber as a student concert. In 2013 he wrote and set to music a. a. the summer jingle of the theater, which advertises the state theaters in Radebeul before every performance on the Rathen rock stage .

In 2015 he successfully completed his studies in musicology and art history , first at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg , then at the Excellence University Dresden as a Master of Arts . In the same year he worked with the video producer Gregor Schulze from little spot on the first music image video At the pulse of time at the Dresden University of Excellence. In an English and a German version, Die NotenDealer present different areas of the university as protagonists in the music video.

In September 2016 Gernitz released his first solo album Wir ehren die Queen with producer Toni Paschke from studio27 on the in-house label NotenDealer-Records . The associated band formation bears the name "TIM", all texts and compositions come from the pen of Tim Gernitz. In addition to the indie pop genre , rock influences also shape the album. At the same time, the single Gold Rush was released with a music video produced in southern France. In September 2015 he toured New York with the first songs from his solo project.

In autumn 2019 he produced an entire album for the NotenDealer for the first time. Behind the release name of the album Extreme there are new musical elements and recording ideas that set the songs apart from previous productions.

He gained further fame through his appearance on Florian Silbereisen's TV show The Big Schlager Surprise on March 14, 2020 on the TV station Das Erste . He sang with Mary Roos on the occasion of a surprise show at the end of her tour career in a duet the song Arizona Man .

In addition to his work on stage, Tim Gernitz heads the PR and artist agency NotenDealer-Records. The agency deals with the marketing and coordination of artists of different genres as well as the support of the living room stage Die NotenDiele in Freiberg / Dresden. Since 2016, the NotenDiele has been described by MDR Figaro as “a hot spot in Central Saxony”.

The podcast format Die NotenDealer - The Podcast has existed since March 2020 . Tim Gernitz and Felix Günther invite regional and national public figures. The concept of the podcast results from the show programs of the NotenDealer. Both take in u. a. the role of the emcee . For several years, the band's concerts have seen a surplus of opportunities for conversation, which the podcast is supposed to cover. It includes an entertaining form of conversation with the respective guests.
